  3. Focusing on more than one niche

  5. Not building a blog community
  6. Not having a monetization plan;
  7. Stop using Google Images
  8. Create a free blog
  9. Give it up too early

1. Not doing any keyword research

blogging

Did you know why your blog is struggling to get more search traffic even after you post content on a regular basis? It could be mostly because you publish posts without research on keywords. Keyword research is simply a process of finding “words” or “keywords” that generate more traffic, leads and sales from search engines like Google to your websites.

Here are a few essential tools that can be used for keyword research:

  • Semrush (this is the same tool that we use to find potential keywords for our site, you can literally find every single detail of a keyword using Semrush)
  • KWFinder (this is a long tail keyword research tool with a great interface and it shows you trend, search volume, CPC, and level of difficulty in results)
  • Ahrefs(another incredible tool which gives you accurate keyword data)
  • Ubersuggest (if you want to use any free tool then try this, I’m sure it will help you out)

2. Inconsistency in blog post schedule

blogging

There are so many blogging superstars that have emerged recently, and there’s one reason that distinguishes successful bloggers from “consistency” failure. Not only in blogging, but considering any field in the world, consistent people will succeed. That’s why “do not focus on the results.” Instead, focus on creating a consistent blogging post schedule and stick to it. Even if you post one post a week, stick to it for a year and it’s going to be a routine for you!

Here’s the key to creating the correct blogging frequency of blog posts.

  • Publish your content less frequently, but make it extremely detailed.
  • There are days when you can publish blog posts on a daily basis to get more search traffic. Yes, search engines like Google love fresh content, but that doesn’t mean you should publish mediocre

Quality’s going to beat quantity.

It’s always better to create 1 in-depth article instead of publishing 5 crappy posts, as long-term in-depth content actually performs well over average blog posts. If you cover any of the topics, please make sure to include A to Z information about it. If you’re writing about a complicated subject, use real-world examples to make your content more compelling. And make sure you spend more time with the influencers in my niche. You can do interviews or expert roundups when you’re just getting started with more buzz and more social sharing.

3. Not focusing on ONE niche

blogging

Covering too many topics is one of the deadly mistakes most new bloggers have made. If you’re running a new blog, you need to establish yourself as an authority to succeed in the long run. People don’t listen to newbies, they’re listening to experts. How can you become an expert or a go-to guy in your industry by covering too many topics? Don’t make that blogging mistake. Make sure you focus on a single niche where you can create outstanding content. If you’re still wondering why you should just focus on one niche instead of covering too many topics, there are a few benefits and reasons for this.

  • Less competition (this is the biggest blogging benefit of all, as you can become an expert if you’ve been blogging on a particular subject for a couple of years)
  • Your niche’s ability to dominate
  • You can become the expert and thought leader of your niche.
  • You can attract a laser-focused audience and customers to your site.
  • Rise invisibility

4. Focusing more on quantity rather than quality

blogging

One of the common questions most beginners ask is “I should create more blog posts frequently” or “I should publish only high quality posts infrequently.”

It’s a great question to ask if you’re a beginner.

Brian Dean from Backlinko once said “Too many pages create too many problems”. He’s so true about it.

If you focus on quantity over quality, you will fail miserably. Whether you know it or not, Brian Dean published barely 30 blog posts on his blog, and his blog receives more than a million search engine views every month. That said, not creating in-depth articles is one of the biggest mistakes. It takes a lot of time to create a long form of content. You need to spend quality time on research, writing, editing, promoting, and so on. But in the long run, it works like a charm.

5. Not building a blog community

blogging

There are two best ways to build a blog community that will help you succeed as a blogger in 2021 and beyond.

  • Creation of a Facebook group
  • Building an email list

Let’s talk briefly about the two ways above.

  • Using Facebook groups to build a blog community: one of the best ways to build a blog community is to make smart use of Facebook groups. As soon as you start your blogging journey, it’s a smart idea to set up a Facebook group that mostly covers the topics you cover on your blog. Make sure you find and connect with other Facebook groups that are very relevant to the topics you cover. That way, you can engage with other bloggers who can help each other share, link and comment on each other.
  • Use an email list to build a blog community: an email list is a great way to build loyal readership around your blogs. The best part of building an email list over social media is that the email list gives you the highest amount of ROI as an email gives you $40 in return for every $1 you spend. Once you start building an email list, make sure you provide freebies such as eBooks, gifts, etc. to quickly add more subscribers. Also, provide highly educational content in the form of newsletters to your email list instead of sending sales pitches.

7. Stop using images from Google

blogging

This is one of the most costly mistakes a blogger can make. It’s so easy to use images from Google Image Search. But you should also know that you can get sued by using copyrighted images on your blog. If you’ve been using images on your blogs without the consent of the internet, know that you’re probably violating copyright and could be sued for it (sooner or later). Even if you unknowingly use images, you can get sued if the images have copyrights. There are a lot of bloggers who assume they can use other people’s images and link back to them as credit. But that’s a wrong approach, too. If you want to use other images, make sure you take their permission and use it first.

8. Creating a free blog

blogging

Are you using the blogspot domain or the domain that ends with.WordPress.com? It’s fun to use free blogs, but they don’t help you make any money. We know that most people start blogging to make money in their spare time, and there are also people who want to make a living from online. If you’re someone looking to make money from blogs, you should definitely avoid free blogs.

There are a lot of limitations to free blogs that include:

  • Free blogs can be taken down at any time (without giving you any reason) while self-hosted blogs give you full control of your site.
  • Free blogs have limited space, limited bandwidth and few features.
  • Whatever you post to your free blogs, basically, you don’t own content, but your own free blogging platforms (and they can literally take your content down anytime they want)
  • Most of all, most free blogs don’t allow you to monetize your site.
  • Even if you’re using a WordPress site that is self-hosted but hosted on a free or cheap and unreliable hosting platform, you should get rid of it as soon as possible.

9. Giving up too early

blogging

Now we know how to create content that generates profits. We now know how to create content that will attract more search traffic. Now we know how to build trust with content! It’s all coming with the experience. Blogging is a marathon, not a sprint.

Here’s what most beginner blogs do when they’re not getting the results they want: they QUIT!

  • If you don’t get the traffic you deserve, wait, but don’t stop.
  • If you don’t make any sales from your blog, find ways but don’t quit!
  • If you’re not attracting links, start connecting to others instead of making yourself guilty.
  • If you’re prepared for the long run, you’ll eventually be able to make money from your blog, but if you’re expecting faster results (such as making $10K a month within 6 months of starting your blog), you’re going to fail.

10. Not investing money on growing your blog

blogging

Most beginner bloggers don’t invest money starting from a reliable web hosting service to SEO email marketing.

They often search for freebies, including:

  • Free WordPress themes
  • Free email templates
  • Free email marketing providers
  • Free SEO tools and so on

While there’s nothing wrong with searching and using free tools mentioned above, free tools aren’t great for a few reasons.

Here are a few major reasons for avoiding free tools:

  • If you use something for free, you rarely value it (meaning, you take your blog seriously to improve it using free tools).
  • If you pay for something, you’ll mostly value it and find ways to get the most out of paid tools. It’s just as simple as that.
  • Free tools don’t provide you with support, constant updates, extensive information, etc.
