How can India take advantage of boycotting Chinese products? in Banned Chinese Apps – Opportunity For India Inc
The Indian government has launched the “Make in India” platform to encourage the use of “Swadeshi” products and become “Atamnirbhar.”
Every country keeps an eye on the Indian market and start-ups to fund them and start their operations. Therefore, boycotting Chinese products has provided India with ample opportunities to attract foreign industries and bring the economy back to the boom. This will help to generate FDI, employment opportunities, and make India self-reliant.
The government has identified 12 sectors which can help to become India self-reliant and become global supplier:
- Food processing;
- Organic farming;
- Aluminum and copper;
- Industrial machinery;
- Leather and shoes;
- Auto parts;
- Textiles; and
- Masks, sanitizers, and ventilators
How to achieve Made in India mission?
Growth in manufacturing is the most significant factor for Indian economy development. Manufacturing has the potential to provide large scale employment to the Indian population and the ultimate increase in GDP.
India has already established world-class excellence in manufacturing in core sectors such as textiles, auto components, and, more recently, petrochemicals.
India has several strengths that could help it become a manufacturing powerhouse and Atmanirbhar:
- A large pool of engineers,
- A young labour force,
- Low wage rate, and
- Significant domestic consumption of manufactured goods.
Here are a few challenges also that are yet to be addressed to increase the manufacturing operations in India:
- Development of employee skills
The individual, as well as collective growth, affects a lot in the manufacturing operations. The industry can establish vocational training institutes for developing skilled labor pools around key manufacturing clusters at a collective level. At the individual level, manufacturers can improve their capabilities at the entry-level and then enhance their skills for the leadership levels.
Financial incentives can play a huge role in engaging and appreciating them to focus on continuous improvement in the manufacturing sector.
- Efficient supply chain
Smart manufacturers use the existing technology to make their supply chain efficient. Real-time inventory ERP and waste management of resources can help to increase supply chain visibility. Furthermore, data analytics can be used for demand forecasting and accordingly make them cost-efficient.
- Improvement in quality
Making others rely on Indian products can be achieved with superior quality. While making the supply chain efficient, all suppliers should focus on maintaining the raw material quality and, ultimately, the finished product. Here, OEMs should invest in building quality into their designs to ensure quality.
Today, India is the world’s second-largest smartphone market. Moreover, the Indian IT industry aims to reach USD 350 Billion in revenue by 2025 from the current revenue of USD 150+Billion. However, it does not manufacture any of the phones itself. It can be said that India may have missed many opportunities in the technology sector, and the U.S., Europe, and China have established the major leads.
However, India can still become self-reliant in electric and fuel cell vehicles, electricity storage systems, solar cells, and modules, aircraft including UAVs, AI, robotics and automation, biotech/pharma, and others are well within reach.
The government must incentivize large Indian private companies to work with domestic MSMEs who build globally competitive products and promote a local ecosystem. How to strengthen Software- technology sector:
- Setting up of factories and manufacturing units
- Investment in innovation
- Focus on building IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) regime
- Invest in R&D (Research and Development)
Now, coming to the most substantial factors, why should foreign companies outsource software development to India?
- Young talent
India is a prime destination for offshore software development. Indian Information technology industry is well-known for its cost competitiveness and its high-quality software services.
India has the talent pool (high percentage of developers), that makes it the biggest outsourcing hub. Here, around 95% of the developers are young aged within 18-35. The education offered in India to the young talent is steadily accumulating new and improved skills daily to deliver quality software solutions across all industry verticals.
So, when you work with India in the software development profile, you will meet the unmatchable talent pool.
- Lower cost
We all know that software development costs in India are more economical than in other countries. This is the main reason that India is growing in the software development field too fast. Undoubtedly, we never fail to match the price-quality ratio that means “great quality at the reasonable price.”
Thus, reduction in cost helps India to gain a competitive advantage with economies of scale.
India’s top software development firms are consistently delivering top-notch quality because of the talent pool available in India. The huge talent is highly focused on the ever-increasing thirst for learning and experimenting with new technologies.
The combination of innovation, a chance to young talent, and government support are just some of the advantages in the software development market segment.
Over the years, thousand global enterprises across the U.S., Europe, and other locations have realized India’s potential and have set up their own IT or R&D centers to take advantage of the India’s cost effective and talent.
